Veterans’ Families

Are you a spouse, family member or carer of a veteran?

Most Veterans report a successful transition back into civvy street, however for a number this can a difficult process. We understand that for families this can be an anxious and worrying time and result in a wide range of issues, some of which can have long term implications for all concerned. The programme has been developed to provide you with the tools to deal effectively with the ups and downs of daily life.

HEAR FROM BRENDA

I was in a very bad place. I was so angry and upset about him. I was very anxious about going on the programme. Warrior staff met me a week before with my daughter to reassure me. That was so amazing. It meant a huge amount. I don’t think I would have done it without that encouragement. I’m the biggest non believer in that kind of thing.

It’s the best thing I’ve ever done!

My parents drove me there – I think so that I couldn’t jump in the car and run away. I sobbed. The only chair that was left was right at the front and I just sobbed and sobbed. I went out and a coach came out to me. I lost my shit completely. I was ready to walk out. They talked me through. I couldn’t get it into my head that it was about me, not him (husband).

But I did it! It was hard, but I did it. It changed my life, everything. My whole outlook, motivation, self confidence. It’s changed the way I manage myself. I was so angry and bitter. It consumed me, eating me up. Now, it’s all gone, my whole way of thinking has changed and I’m back in charge.

I would like to be an ambassador for the programme. It’s incredible.

HEAR FROM VICKY

The last thing I wanted to do was go on a course – I’d done so many through my work!

I thought Warrior was all about PTSD. But it was brilliant – completely different from what I expected. I loved it, it was top drawer, really interesting. The best thing about it was getting rid of the clutter in your mind so you can start with a clean surface.

Also, the goal setting was interesting. I’d tended in the past to have just one goal, so what was really different was to think about a range of goals.

I feel lighter – my head feels lighter.

I’m able to focus more and really think about what I’m doing. Being able to get rid of fears was good. It was good that my husband and I have both done the programme. We’ve been able to talk about things because of that.

Course Calendar

In light of the current situation regarding COVID 19, we are now postponing all Warrior Programme courses until August 2020.

We are accelerating our plans to augment our online resource to enable all existing participants to continue to embed the techniques taught on the Programme and take the opportunity to conduct training via Facebook live and Zoom. We will advertise all these sessions to you be email and on the Facebook closed site.

In addition, we are working with our training team, to develop our online resource to support those individuals who are now going to have to wait to attend the programme due to the course cancellations. Similarly we will alert you to these sessions by email and text and we are creating a Facebook closed page for you to access our Facebook live sessions.

At times like these, it is important that we come together and support each other through what is to be a tough time for us all.

Thank you for your continued support, stay safe and best wishes. The Warrior Team.
